When the spotlight turns to a character, how we describe them can give our audience a chance to take in their physical appearance, personality traits, disposition, aspects of their backstory, and even foreshadow what may come as our stories progress. 

Take chances on how to make a notable impression, spark curiosity, give pause, ensnare the senses, or provide a threat that is well felt. The Introduction is one of the most powerful tools in a writer's/player's toolbox.
